Hey, welcome to the chaos!

(insert thoughtful intro here) Just because I am a writer does not mean I know how to write about myself! But anyways... Welcome! I have ZERO clue what I am doing, the one thing I do know however is that my number one goal is to create a safe space for to share my love for reading (and writing) while also bringing awareness to chronic illnesses. I will touch base on many conditions, but I will be primarily focusing on the four I am diagnosed with; Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Marfans Syndrome, POTS, & MCAS! I hope for this to be a place for love and understanding but also a place to rave over our favorite books AND speculate about who Elaines mate will be (It better be Lucien or I will riot!) plus all of the other unhinged book theories our brains create!

My Miniature Trauma Dump!

I guess I should start with my name huh? Hi! You can call me that weird guy over there (or you can just call me Garrett, that is my name anyways). I am a lover of many things ranging from books and movies all the way to dark humor and the overuse of sarcasm as a defense mechanism. I grew up in a VERY red town just East of Greensboro, NC but yet I somehow grew up to be a raging liberal who is a proud member of the Alphabet Army. Since I am a loud blue dot in the middle of a pool of red here are some of my favorite phrases to use "No uterus, No opinion!", "No one is illegal on STOLEN land!", but my two all-time top favorites are "Fuck Donald Trump!" and "Fuck ICE!" and I say all of these with my whole chest!

Growing up in a town like mine wasn't easy, I was the weird kid in school who either had his nose in a book or was working on my next "masterpiece" for art class. Let's just say that I was not one of the popular kids, I have felt the emotional aftermath that comes from senseless bullying (so when I say no bullying in these groups, I fucking mean it!) Then on top of the bullying, I was dealing with endless doctors appointments and rounds of medications all to be told "you're faking for attention/to skip school". Now look at me, I'm a thirty-year-old millennial with more health problems and prescriptions than I have healthy relationships with my own family members! (Blood is NOT thicker than water, if they're toxic and bad for your mental health cut off their access to you!)

Now that I have my diagnosis' and am doing everything I can to manage them all (fuck you surprise hEDS flares) I am putting myself out there to build a community for people who love reading, share similar experiences, like to gossip about fictional characters, or all of the above! Just remember that I am chronically ill so some updates may come later than expected AND I am just a little cooky, so who knows what my "Hot Takes" are going to be (my experience while reading Unhinged is currently running through my head)

But I sincerely hope we can all use this to build a community, maybe some friendships and just be whacky together without judgement!

OH! Also, I do have a shop on this page where I will be listing new and used books of all shapes, sizes, colors, & genres. There will also be sections for handmade bookish themed items as well as stationary supplies.
